ERI Installs Innovative Robotic Sorter at Plainfield Electronics Recycling Facility
ERI- the nation’s leading e-waste recycler has announced installation of e-scrap sorting robot at its Plainfield, Indiana facility. It is the company’s second location to install the groundbreaking A.I.-driven robotic sorter Super Automated Machine (SAM) designed and developed by Colorado-based AMP Robotics, after its Fresno, California headquarters.
The integration of SAM into ERI’s scrap metal sorting line will help the company in separating a wide range of materials including shredded aluminum, printed circuit boards, yellow brass, capacitors and copper products. The currently installed system supports nearly 70 picks per minute.
John Shegerian, ERI’s Co-Founder and Executive Chairman noted that the company is the first in the industry to incorporate robots and A.I. into sorting process. ERI intends to add the advanced sorting technique to its other facilities across the country by the end of the current year, he added.
