Heraeus Declares Opening of Advanced Precious Metals Recycling Plant

Heraeus Precious Metals Technology (China) Co Ltd.- the Chinese subsidiary of German Technology Group Heraeus has announced opening of its precious metals refinery and recycling plant in the City of Nanjing in China’s eastern Jiangsu province, China.
According to Heraeus, the newly built plant is the world’s most advanced precious metals factory. Spread over 84,000 square meters at the Nanjing Jiangbei New Material Science and Technology Park, the plant was built at an investment of nearly $120 million. The plant is expected to capitalize of China’s rising demand for platinum group metals. The Heraeus recycling plant will provide approximately 350 employment opportunities.
Jan Rinnert, Heraeus’ global chairman and CEO noted that the Nanjing site will connect Heraeus’ global network with local Chinese talent, by staying closer to local customers and offering better service. Apart from creating more values for customers from various traditional and new materials industries, the plant will deliver green development of the entire precious metals value chain, said Linda Hu, Heraeus Precious Metal China commercial head.
The Nanjing automated facility is expected to boost Heraeus’ precious metals recycling capacity in China from 700 metric tons to nearly 3,000 metric tons per annum.
